Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture

NADA 5 Point Protocol

Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture

NADA stands for National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. The NADA treatment model was established in 1985 by Dr. Michael Smith, Director of the Lincoln Recovery Centre, New York and it was introduced into the UK in the 1990's. Although originally developed to help those dealing with recovery from substance misuse, the NADA Protocol was soon noticed to be able to offer a wide range of health benefits and is now used as part of a holistic approach for overall health and wellbeing.

The process involves the insertion of fine needles into 5 points of the outer ear - Sympathetic, Shen Men, Kidney, Liver and Lung. These needles remain r for up to 45 minutes while the client is encouraged to relax in a calming environment.

The NADA 5 Points used in this treatment serve to balance the body's energy and assist in the body's healing process and may help individuals with the following; calming the nervous system, relaxation, hot sweats, regulate menstruation, ease depression, improve sleep, clearer mind, letting go of grief, reduction of cravings/withdrawals, an overall feeling of wellbeing.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is based on the principle that the workings of the human body is controlled by a life force energy called Qi. Qi flows between organs of the body along pathways called meridians. In Chinese Medicine it is believed that when Qi flow is blocked the person will become ill. Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points of the body to stimulate energy (Qi) flow and promote healing.
